Amazon Unveils Fire TV Stick 4K Streaming Device That Needs No Adapter
Amazon has launched its new Fire TV Stick 4K streaming device. Unlike previous 4K models, the device can draw power from a TV’s USB port. This eliminates the need for a separate adapter. The model, which has a slimmer body, is available starting today for $59.99 (approximately AZN 102). According to Amazon, the device starts up 20–40% faster than competing 4K devices and opens apps 35% faster.
The device has a 1.7 GHz 4-core processor. It comes with 8 GB of internal storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and the more energy-efficient Bluetooth Low Energy. The model supports HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, H.265, H.264, VP9 and AV1 video formats. It can display images at 2160p, or 4K, quality. It also supports 1080p and 720p formats. Videos are displayed at up to 60 frames per second. The Fire TV Stick 4K comes with a completely redesigned Fire TV Remote. Its asymmetrical and curved design makes the remote more comfortable to hold. The buttons are also easier to identify by touch in the dark. The blue Alexa button has been replaced with a black microphone button in the upper-right corner. The remote also has a metal-finished Home button, a recessed power button and a flatter directional pad. The Favorites button can be assigned to any app or to the subtitle function.
The new remote will also be sold separately for $14.99 (approximately AZN 25). Shipping will begin at the end of October 2026. The remote works with all Fire TV devices released since 2019 and with Amazon Ember TV televisions. The Fire TV Remote Plus, which will have an aluminum body and backlit buttons, will be released in early 2027. That version will also include a feature that helps users find a lost remote using sound. The Fire TV Stick 4K runs Amazon’s updated Vega operating system. The system does not allow apps to be installed from third-party sources. The product lineup includes the Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max and Fire TV Cube. The new model replaces the previous Select and Plus 4K versions.
Software updates include the Alexa+ hub, the ability to manage watchlists from a phone and movie recommendations. The updates will roll out in the US in November 2026 and in other countries in 2027. A new Amazon Music app will also be released this fall.
The device is initially being sold in the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the UK and Ireland. The list also includes Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. Australia and New Zealand are also among the countries where sales have begun. The initial sale price in the US is $29.99 (approximately AZN 51). Other prices have also been announced for various promotions. During the Prime Big Deal Days sale beginning October 6, the device will be sold for $39.99 (approximately AZN 68). The standard price in the UK is £59.99 (approximately AZN 135).
