Anthropic Launches Claude Haiku 5.5, Its Most Affordable and Fastest Model

Anthropic has launched Claude Haiku 5.5, an updated version of the AI model in its most affordable lineup. It is designed to handle large volumes of tasks where cost efficiency is important.

Anthropic calls Claude Haiku 5.5 the fastest neural network in the company’s history, making it an excellent solution for tasks where response speed is critical—for example, when interacting with a browser or providing real-time customer support.

The model also handles fast, repetitive operations well, including creating brief summaries, compressing context, running database queries, and classifying information. Haiku 5.5 can work alongside the more advanced Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 models as an auxiliary AI agent for coding.

Compared with Haiku 4.5, the cost of running the new model has decreased significantly, by an average of 75%. It should be noted that if a task requires more than 100,000 tokens, the cost of Haiku 5.5 increases fivefold.

The AI model is already available in Claude, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
