Apple May Unveil New MacBook Pro at October 28 Event
Apple will hold its “Pro and Tell” event in Los Angeles on October 28. The event will begin at 21:00 Azerbaijan time. The company has already sent invitations to media representatives. After showcasing new products earlier this month, Apple is preparing to make another major announcement in October. The wording of the invitation suggests that the event may take the form of a hands-on experience with the devices rather than a formal presentation. The main focus is expected to be on the new MacBook Pro models.
The biggest new product could be a MacBook Pro with a touch-enabled OLED display. The event icon shows a colorful Apple logo being drawn by swiping across the screen. This image is being interpreted as a reference to touch controls. The 14- and 16-inch models are expected to be thinner and lighter. The display may also feature an area similar to the iPhone's Dynamic Island. ProMotion technology could make motion and scrolling on the display appear smoother. Although the name “MacBook Ultra” has been mentioned for the most expensive model, keeping the “Pro” name is considered more likely.
Reports suggest that the new laptops will feature an M6 or M5 Ultra chip. An entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro that largely retains the current design may also be released with the M6 chip. This model is expected to run faster and show improvements particularly in artificial intelligence tasks. Apple may also showcase an updated iMac with the M6 chip. The M5 Ultra was introduced in August in the Mac mini and Mac Studio, while the M6 was later showcased with the Mac Mini.
An updated iPad mini is also expected to be showcased at the event. The tablet may feature an OLED display, a more powerful chip and a redesigned body. The front-facing camera may be moved to the long edge to make landscape use more convenient. It is also said to feature ProMotion technology, which makes motion on the display appear smoother. The current 8-inch model starts at $699 (approximately 1,190 manats) or £699 (approximately 1,610 manats). The new version is expected to be more expensive.
This event will take place after Apple's “Welcome home” event on October 13. That event featured the HomeView smart home hub, updated Apple TV 4K and Siri Remote models, as well as the 2nd-generation HomePod Mini. The company plans to begin delivering iPhone Duo orders on October 23. Apple has not yet announced the full list of new devices, their prices or their release dates.
