Gears of War: E-Day Released

Gears of War: E-Day has received its full release. It is a new installment and prequel to the iconic Gears of War third-person shooter series. The game is available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S, as well as through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscriptions. Premium Edition buyers were able to start playing on October 1.

The story of Gears of War: E-Day takes players back 14 years before the events of the first installment. It focuses on how the main characters, the young Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, first encounter “Emergence Day,” or E-Day. On that day, the hostile Locust Horde suddenly burst from beneath the surface of the planet Sera, unleashing an unprecedented planet-wide genocide. In addition to a large-scale story campaign, the game offers multiplayer, including Horde, the series’ iconic mode.

Gears of War: E-Day has already set a franchise record for concurrent players on Steam. On the first day of early access, its peak player count exceeded 20,000, and after the general release, it rose to 22,000 and continues to grow rapidly. Critics noted that the prequel can be called the best installment in the series in terms of gameplay and graphics. However, some believe that the story is weaker than the gameplay.
