Specifications of Google’s New Fitbit Edge Fitness Tracker Leaked
Retail materials for the Fitbit Edge fitness tracker developed by Google have leaked. The device, which will continue the Fitbit Charge line, will be a midrange model. The images show a small display presenting brief information windows, or widgets. However, the tracker’s capabilities are not as extensive as those of full-size smartwatches. The marketing material had previously been accidentally released in August, and the device appeared in an FCC filing in September.
The images show a convex display extending quite close to the edges. The screen displays a Pixel Watch face adapted to this shape. The back has a mechanism for removing the band and a sensor array reminiscent of the one on the Fitbit Air. Google may also opt for the same magnetic charger. The metal areas on the sides are believed to be metal strips for ECG measurements. The band and case are shown in Canyon, Obsidian, and Olive colors. The main screen shows the time and date, as well as heart rate, step count, and buttons for starting a workout. The device will have built-in GPS and an altimeter, a sensor that measures altitude. The selection of apps is limited. The list includes Google Maps, YouTube Music, media and music controls, and Find My Phone. Bluetooth is listed for connecting to a phone, while Wi-Fi is not listed. According to the sales materials, the Fitbit Edge will run for up to 7 days on a single charge and connect to both Android and iOS phones. Unlike the Fitbit Air, the new model will also display notifications. This information is shown in a comparison chart with the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 5. Storage, display size, and other key technical specifications have not yet been disclosed. The Fitbit Charge line was last updated in 2023. The new device’s price and release date are not yet known. The price is expected to be in the $150-$200 range. That is approximately AZN 255-340, but it is not an official price. The Fitbit Air sells for $99.99 (approximately AZN 170). The Pixel Watch has a starting price of $399.99 (approximately AZN 680). The current Fitbit Charge 6 costs $159.95 (approximately AZN 270).
