OpenAI Introduces Plugins for Managing iCloud Mail and Calendar in ChatGPT
OpenAI made the iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins available for ChatGPT on October 27, 2026. This makes it possible to manage Apple’s mail and calendar services from within the chatbot. The plugins work with all ChatGPT plans, including the free plan. They can be used on the web version, desktop app, and iOS app.
The iCloud Mail plugin searches emails, finds messages from a specific person, and prepares a brief summary of recent correspondence. Users can draft a reply and send an email. With iCloud Calendar, users can create events and check and update existing events. Both plugins can find contacts, extract meeting information from an email, and compare it with other plans on the calendar. To connect, users must go to the plugins page in ChatGPT’s settings and select each service separately. They must then open the sign-in and security section on account.apple.com and create a separate app-specific password for each connection. 2-step verification must be enabled for the Apple Account. That app-specific password is entered in ChatGPT instead of the regular Apple password. For an iCloud Mail connection, the email address must end in @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com. For iCloud Calendar, the primary Apple Account email address is required, and it may be a different address. ChatGPT can only access emails stored in iCloud Mail. To access Gmail and Outlook accounts added to the Apple Mail app, those services must be connected separately. Both plugins work with the ChatGPT Dots agent for the first time, but this feature is available only to Pro plan users. Dot can even help set up the plugins. It is not yet clear to what extent other ChatGPT features, such as Work and Codex, work with the new connections. This integration differs from ChatGPT directly controlling the Mail and Calendar apps on macOS.
