Sony Unveils Black PlayStation 5

Sony has offered those looking to buy a PlayStation 5 a ready-made alternative to replacing the console’s white panels themselves to turn it black. The company has unveiled a new PS5 Digital Edition model in Midnight Black. Moreover, the console comes with a DualSense controller in the same color. However, the new model will not yet be available worldwide.

The new PlayStation 5 Digital Edition model will go on sale in Japan on November 19. The console is priced at $347 . The device features an all-black body, an 825 GB SSD, and a matching wireless DualSense controller.

However, Sony currently intends the new model only for the Japanese market. The company’s official PlayStation website in Japan states that using the console requires the Japanese language and an account for the Japan region. This restriction is believed to be intended to prevent the devices from being taken to other countries and sold at higher prices.

Alongside the console, Sony will also sell a separate disc drive in Midnight Black. It will cost $76. Interestingly, the new console’s release date coincides with the release date of GTA VI. PlayStation 5 will turn five one week earlier.

Sony has been selling black PlayStation accessories for a long time. In addition, users can purchase black interchangeable panels made by third-party manufacturers. The new model stands out as an official bundle that offers the console and controller in the same color.

Will the black PS5 also go on sale in other countries? Sony has not yet made any announcement about this. Therefore, it is unclear whether the Midnight Black version will be released in other markets in the future.
