Syitren’s Transparent CD Player Raises $540,000 on Kickstarter
At a time of growing interest in physical music media, Syitren has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its Syitren RM1 CD player with a transparent case. The basic device can be ordered for $109 (about 190 manats). The campaign has already raised $540,000 (about 918,000 manats), far exceeding its initial goal of $3,000 (about 5,100 manats).
The Syitren RM1 is made with a frameless, transparent acrylic case. It can be hung on a wall or placed on a shelf. The disc, its reading head, the battery compartment, control buttons, and other mechanical parts are visible from the outside. There is also an LED light beneath the moving mechanism. The player’s appearance is reminiscent of the Bang & Olufsen Beosound 9000 music system, which was popular at the end of the last century and in the 2000s. The device transmits audio wirelessly over Bluetooth and runs on a 2,000 mAh battery. The 18650-size battery provides 6 to 8 hours of music playback on a single charge. It can be charged through a USB-C port in 1 to 2 hours. The player reads both standard CDs and data discs containing MP3 files. A separate audio system can also be connected by cable through the 3.5 mm output.
The Syitren RM1 supports only the SBC and AAC audio formats over Bluetooth. It does not support newer formats or formats that transmit audio without a loss in quality. With a wired connection, the dynamic range is above 70 dB, while audio distortion is listed as below 0.1%. Although these figures are considered sufficient for small Bluetooth speakers, high-end results are not expected with powerful audio systems. On Kickstarter, the Syitren RM1 and N200 Bluetooth speaker can be ordered together for $139 (about 240 manats). A package of 2 players costs $169 (about 290 manats). In this package, each device costs $84.5 (about 140 manats). A package of 4 players is sold for $319 (about 540 manats), bringing the price of each device to $79.75 (about 140 manats). The Braun-inspired N200 speaker is also sold separately in beige and black for $59 (about 100 manats).
