Silent version of WireView Pro II graphics card power monitor unveiled
Thermal Grizzly and Noctua have unveiled the WireView Pro II Noctua Edition, a device that monitors a graphics card’s power connection. The new model’s main difference is its quieter cooling system. The device helps detect dangerous failures in the problematic 12V-2x6 connector before damage occurs. This connector is known for the risk of damage when contact is poor.
The WireView Pro II does more than measure a graphics card’s total power consumption. The device checks the current on each 12-volt power rail separately and detects unusual load distribution. This can reveal poor contact and other problems that could damage the connector. Visual and audible warnings are activated when readings exceed the specified threshold. The device can also automatically shut down the computer if desired. The standard cooling system has been replaced in the Noctua Edition. It features a custom Noctua NF-A4x10 fan, an updated grille and a larger aluminum housing precisely manufactured on a CNC machine. The fan operates in semi-passive mode, meaning it stops when cooling is not needed. Even with the case fans off and the temperature above 40°C, the device can operate under a 300 W load without turning on its own fan.
When active cooling is needed, the new fan’s speed remains below 2,000 revolutions per minute. On the standard model, the speed reaches 5,000 revolutions per minute. The noise level measured at a distance of 10 cm from the device has fallen from 39.4 dB(A) to 21.5 dB(A). As a result, the device should be virtually inaudible alongside other fans, even in a very quiet computer. The WireView Pro II Noctua Edition is available in Normal and Reversed versions to accommodate different connector and cable layouts. The product comes with a 2-year extended warranty that also covers the graphics card connector. The recommended retail price is listed as $189.90, or approximately AZN 320. However, the device is sold for $222.18, or approximately AZN 380, in the official online store.
