Wyze Unveils Smart Scale That Measures More Than 50 Metrics for AZN 250
“Wyze” unveiled its new “Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan Plus” smart scale during “Wyze Week,” held on October 20. The model’s main distinguishing feature is that the display has been removed from the scale and placed on a retractable, sensor-equipped handle. The 4.3-inch color display shows results closer to eye level, and its appearance can be customized. When the handle remains in place, weight is still displayed on the scale.
The “Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan Plus” has gone on sale for $149 (approximately AZN 250). The black and white models are available from the company’s online store. The new scale costs approximately $30 (approximately AZN 51) more than the $119.98 (approximately AZN 200) “Ultra BodyScan” model released late last year. “Wyze” also sells a simpler model with similar tracking features for approximately $80 (approximately AZN 140).
Last year’s model measured 13 body metrics, while the new scale measures more than 50. These include weight, body mass index, body fat percentage, muscle and bone mass, body water, fat around the internal organs, protein, and basal metabolic rate. Basal metabolic rate indicates the minimum number of calories the body needs each day to maintain its basic functions. Using a weak electrical signal known as BIA, the scale calculates results separately for the arms, legs, and torso.
None of the scale’s features require a monthly or annual subscription fee. Data is sent to a nearby smartphone via Bluetooth or transferred directly to cloud storage through the built-in Wi-Fi connection. Results are stored in the “Wyze” app and can also be synced with “Apple Health,” “Google Health,” and “Android Health Connect.” This means the phone’s Bluetooth connection does not need to remain on at all times for basic measurements.
The “Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan Plus” recognizes up to 8 registered users and stores each user’s results separately. Guest mode places no limit on the number of unregistered users, but their results are not saved to a permanent profile. A special mode allows users to weigh a child, pet, or piece of luggage while holding it. In this mode, detailed body composition metrics are not calculated.
